If you have kids, you know that their pants never seem to last long. Even the daintiest of girls get the dreaded holes in their pants. If you're like most people though, you just chuck them in the garbage or use them as the occasional knock around pants. If you're like me, you hoard them because you know the fabric just might come in handy one day. I am FAR from one of those people who can sew almost anything. I'm a mere beginner... and one of those beginners who just wings it and doesn't measure either. So, I'm far from perfect and if I can do this, you can too!
What is it we're going to do, you ask? Well.... hem those pants into shorts. If the holes are at the knees or lower, you can make long bermuda shorts or you can go even shorter. Totally up to you, but... that's not all!!! Why waste all that extra fabric?! If your girls enjoy playing with dolls, this is the PERFECT time to craft some doll pillows! They are SUPER easy and can even be done without a sewing machine.
What you'll need:
- Pants with worn out knees or holes
- Scissors
- A sewing needle and thread (or a sewing machine)
- Stuffing
- A doll to enjoy your finished product

1. Cut the legs of the pants just a tad bit longer than your desired doll pillow length. 2. Turn what you've just cut inside out!
3. Sew one end of the piece you've taken off completely shut. 4. Sew the other end but not all the way!! Leave an opening of about 2 inches.
5. Using your 2 inch opening, turn the piece you've sewn back so that it is no longer inside out. 6. Stuff to the desired thickness and then sew the opening shut.
7. You're almost done! Set your pillow down somewhere special....
8. And soon enough, a baby doll will come by to take a rest!!! 9. While that's happening.... go back to the pants you just cut the leg from.
10. Cut the other leg so that it's the same length. 11. Turn the pants inside out and fold up and sew so that the ends have a finished look.
12. Let your litte one rock their new shorts!
